NEWS & ANNOUNCEMENTS
INCOMING MAILING In the next 2 weeks, residents should receive a very important mailing from Exeter regarding the Annual Meeting. In addition to the normal proxy, there is also a proxy and ballot for proposed amendments to the Governing Documents. These amendments would correct changes reflected in the law since Exeter began to allow the Board to recover costs associated with legal enforcement of covenants, to make rules related to parking, and tools to enforce covenants. The Association must have over 500 ballots or proxies to even hold the vote, so please return yours or fill them out online. Make sure to keep the resident code to complete them online.
RENT & MORTGAGE RELIEF PROGRAM As a general notice, many new laws took effect on July 1 in the Commonwealth of Virginia, a highlight of which can be found here.
Among the legislative efforts, the Virginia Rent and Mortgage Relief Program (RMRP) will provide $50 million in federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act funding for households facing eviction or foreclosure due to COVID-19. RMRP will provide short-term financial assistance on behalf of households in the form of rent and mortgage payments.
CONSTRUCTION WARNING The Town of Leesburg has begun work on a long anticipated sidewalk extensions across the Route 15 Bypass along Battlefield Parkway. Additionally, utility crews have been working along Battlefield to extend broadband access through the area. Both projects are currently expected to be complete by the end of the summer. Please be safe and observe all warnings while in the area.
Monthly Minutes In accordance with emergency legislation allowing Homeowners Associations to suspend the need for in-person meetings during a state-of-emergency, and given the nature of the emergency that makes it impracticable and unsafe to assemble in a single location at this time, all Board meetings were held electronically and notification was provided by email.
